Bucky O’Hare

December 6, 2009 - 12:54 am No Comments

Bucky O’Hare is the video game adaptation of the 1982 film Blade Runner.

The game’s title character, Bucky O’Hare, is a replicant with a vendetta against the scientists who created him. None of the memories he has of being a space-travelling rabbit are his own – they’re merely creations, meant to give him a sense of rabbitmanity.

It’s your task to guide Bucky throughout 2019 Los Angeles. Can you determine which thoughts and memories are true and which were implanted? Can you find the scientists responsible?

It’s a thrilling journey as you meet love interests and explore the world through the eyes of a robot rabbit who is coming to grips with the fact that he wasn’t born in a cramped cage with hundreds of other rabbits – as he’d always thought.

In the end we discover that we’re all robotic rabbits at our core, and that love knows no bounds – not even the boundaries keeping robotic rabbits from making love to very real female escorts.

A mediocre side-scrolling platformer.

Galaga meets 1942 in this. The best of both worlds, or the worst of one Asian nation?

You’re armed with a strafing, forward advancing space vehicle. It’s munitions consist of a rectangular projectile and two spheres. The spheres seem to hit objects and disappear, leaving you with just one way of destroying enemy craft. Well, assuming you don’t want to use option 2, which is to use your space ship to perform kamikaze missions.

I don’t suggest options 2, however, as it makes this game a very short experience.

The answer to the original question is: The Worst of one Asian nation.

Air Fortress

It’s 1968 and humankind has begun to colonize space. The Great Sphinx disapproves. Great Sphinx smash.

Contrary to popular belief, the best shape for travelling through air and space is actually that of the Great Sphinx. The tail allows for balance and the seated position of a cat exudes a certain calmness that most enemies, including space (the greatest enemy of all) are caught off guard by.

This feature allows for some of the stealthiest kills to ever appear in a Nintendo Entertainment system title, as it manages to be a perfect port of the original interactive VHS title.

In order to save humanity, you must destroy its air fortresses. While that makes perfect sense in and of itself, the game also has a riveting story that will draw you in, and you’ll make some great friends along the way.

Skinny, Montana, Charles and Bronx… This one’s for you!

Wait… Did I say Sphinx? I meant sphincter. I always get those confused.

ASO – Armored Scrum Object

August 6, 2009 - 10:04 pm No Comments

Being an avid player of Scrum Object, I was pleased they finally added armor to the mix.

This game spent a whopping 30 years in development as a language was created from scratch to provide back story. Unfortunately the story portion of the game was scratched and the only remnant which remains is that Lives has been translated to Syds.

Right out of the gate you start off with 3 Syds, which is more than enough Syds for anyone with a half decent ability at scrumming objects.

Aside from all of the scrumming, you’ll also be guiding a space ship in its unending journey toward the top of your television. What the aliens want with your rabbit ears is anyone’s guess.

Impressive work in the linguistics field, but lackluster game.
